Description The Football Association of Ireland has through the medium of football had a major impact on the development of communities all over Ireland. As part of its development strategy, “Football for the Future”, the FAI currently implements a number of national programmes designed to increase participation in football, and to develop and educate coaches and volunteers in relation to best practice when working with young people In order to maximise efficiency and effectiveness in the roll out of these programmes to communities in County Roscommon, The Football Association of Ireland, will work in partnership with Roscommon County Council to fund and recruit a Football in the Community Development Officer to operate in the county, particularly within the designated RAPID areas Football in the Community Development Officer County Roscommon
The Role: Central to this role is ensuring the Football Association of Ireland and Roscommon County Council achieve its core objectives of this programme by: · Ensuring delivery of integrated football and sports development programmes throughout the community · Developing partnership and co-ordination between the relevant local statutory and voluntar bodies in particular Roscommon County Council, and maximizing their involvement in the development of football in the county · The promotion of Social Inclusion through Football, particularly in RAPID areas · Deliver active soccer development to key target communities The Person As a highly motivated self starter, you will have Post Leaving Certificate qualification Attained the Level 1 FAI coaching qualification or equivalent An understanding of the FAI’s Technical Development Plan A good knowledge of community football structures An understanding of the promotion of social inclusion in community through sport and the role of local agencies A proven track record in sports development with the ability to think and plan strategically Computer skills A full driving licence.
Salary: €40,000 plus additional benefits
Job Description Overall Purpose of Position To assist the Football Association of Ireland and Roscommon County Council in achieving its core objectives of Ensuring delivery of integrated football and sports development programmes throughout the community Developing partnership and co-ordination between the relevant local statutory and voluntary bodies, in particular Roscommon County Council, and maximizing their involvement in the development of football in the county The promotion of Social Inclusion through Football Deliver active soccer development to key target communities Specific Responsibilities: Reporting to the FAI Technical Director and Roscommon County Council’s Director of Community and Enterprise , or their nominee(s) the Development Officer will have responsibility for the implementation of current and future development programmes of the FAI Technical Department and Roscommon County Council including inter alia: - Education: Planning, organising and implementing coaching courses Assist in the implementation of national coaching courses as required, and as agreed in advance by both funding agencies Assist in the development of courses as required Assist in the organisation of referee education courses in County Roscommon Assist in the organisation of administrator, volunteer and parent workshops in County Roscommon Assist in the implementation of the ‘Code of Ethics’ programme in County Roscommon Attend and assist in the organisation of regional / national seminars, educational workshops and events as required and agreed Player Development: Assist in the organisation and implementation of ‘FAI Emerging Talent Programme’ in Roscommon Assist in the development of player \ coach development resources as required Grassroots Development: Assist in the planning and implementation of FAI and Roscommon County Council’s programmes including summer camps, DRAFTS – After Schools Programme, School’s, Women’s, Futsal, Club \ League development and Football for All, Buntús and Transition Year Coaching programmes Organise and implement School and After School programmes Organise and implement Women’s Football Development programmes Organise and implement Futsal programme Organise and implement Club \ League development programme Organise and implement Football for All programme Organise and implement coach development programmes Facility Development: Assist in the analysis and development of a local facility development plan where required Assist stakeholders in the facility grant application process where required Strategic Development: Assist in strategic working groups as required and directed by the Technical Director or CEO of the FAI and or the Director of Community and Enterprise of Roscommon County Council and/ or their nominee(s) as agreed in advance by both funding agencies Assist Roscommon County Council, in matters relating to the development of sport in the area as required Liaise and work closely with the Council’s existing Sports Development Office Team Liaise with the Local Sports Partnership for Roscommon Management Processes: Adhere to all management processes as directed by the Technical Director and the Director of Community and Enterprise of Roscommon County Council, and / or persons nominated by them An annual work programme must be submitted to the Technical Director and the Director of Community and Enterprise and/ or their nominee(s) This work programme will be developed in conjunction with the FAI Technical Department and Roscommon County Council Formal Quarterly Reports will be submitted to the Technical Director and the Director of Community and Enterprise and/ or their nominee(s), on agreed dates. Monthly updates will be delivered at Community and Enterprise Team meetings Strictly adhere to procedures outlined by the F.A.I. Technical Director in relation to any financial matters The development officer will complete on a weekly basis a retrospective time sheet outlining work carried out on a particular week. This work sheet will be available for viewing by the FAI Technical Director and the Director of Community and Enterprise of Roscommon County Council and/ or their nominee(s) Promotion of the game of football: Working in cooperation with all leagues and stakeholders in the county to promote the game Represent the FAI at local meetings regarding the development of Technical Development Plan programmes as agreed in advance by both funding agencies Identifying and assisting local community initiatives which may benefit the development of the game Identifying sources of funding available for the local football development Process of Application Applicants are invited to apply below, not later than 14th September 2007
