Job Summary
Responsibility for the co-ordination, development and support of business application software.

Key duties & responsibilities of role include:

Completion of Systems Specifications and analyses in conjunction with the Application Development Manager.
Interpreting User Specifications.
Manage the development cycle and delivery control of new and existing application developments.
Maintenance of relationship with external third party suppliers of software and management of third party costs in respect of services provided.
Ensure that support of all QDI specific products in HFI in moved in-house and there is sufficient resource to support and enhance these products.
Ensure that all applications developed internally or purchased are adequately tested prior to implementation so ensuring continuance of business without interruption.
Manage a small team of programmers and help develop their skills.
Maintaining, documenting & supporting existing code.
Maintaining change control within IT department.
Adequately plan own Career and Training to ensure succession.

General Tasks
· Managing Development Projects within IT department.
· Creating RPG/CL/SQL/Java programs.
· Co-ordinate requirements for input from external suppliers, ensuring that key milestones and deliverables will be achieved.
· Ensure adequate communication of all projects is maintained on an on-going basis.
· Further develop programming competencies.
· Full Documentation of all new programs, including collating all documentation, source code and test results.
· Ensure code meets specifications and standards.
· Assist testing team with design of test plans according to customer needs and project standards.
· Responsible for Change Control of in-house development.
· Ensure that any changes to procedures or systems are understood and communicated to the whole of the I.T. department.
· Documenting & Supporting new code.
· Monitor Team working environment and morale.
· Ensure that staff’s skills are developed, adequate training is provided and properly resourced.
· Assist helpdesk in Production Support where appropriate.
· Actively support and encourage programmers.
· Maintain and Support System Interfaces where appropriate.
· Ensure that jobs are scheduled and queued correctly.
· Report to the Dev. Manager on a timely basis regarding outstanding issues and developments.
· Maintain Good communication and working relationship with team.
· To impart knowledge and skills to colleagues.
